Going through an adoption has been equated to pregnancy – even called a “paper pregnancy” (although I’m giving birth to an 8 and 6 year old :-), so it’s only natural that the mom experience some of that nesting right?
About a month ago, we updated Natalie’s room with a new pink and brown bedspread and a cute new striped paint job in her room. Well, about a week after we found W-boy and B-girl I realized with a jolt that I had better run back to Target and get more bedding – this time in twin size for the planned bunks. I didn’t want to get 6 months down the road and them not have that print anymore. So B-girl’s bedspread is safely stashed in the linen closet.
Yesterday my brother in SIL who are in town from Colorado needed to do some major shopping at IKEA. I figured it was a good time for me to pre-shop for some things we’d need, mostly furniture for W-boy’s room. Well I found a bedspread that I fell in love with. There’s something about it that seems “African” to me – maybe the number of colors and the stripes. Yet it’s muted and not too loud. It’s something that will grow with him and since it has about 10 different colors in it we can have all kinds of decorating fun. So, lest it not be there anymore a few months from now, I went ahead and bought it 🙂 The rest of the stuff I just made lists of and took pictures for later decisions.
