Our kids papers are supposed to be handled by AWOP and then given to our adoption agency’s staff in Ethiopia. Doesn’t sound complicated does it? I mean they’re located in the same city and everything.
The first time (back in May) we were told the papers had been delivered. I followed up with our agency. It took them some time to confirm with their ET staff that no, the papers had NOT been delivered. We went round and round and I had to make daily phone calls to AWOP to find out what was going on. This was when we were pressing up against court closure. Finally they got delivered and we thought we’d get filed for court. Then, a few days before closure we found out that there was a mistake on the papers.
And so it started all again. We were told on August 7th by AWOP that our papers had been delivered to Hope. It took a couple weeks to confirm, but they had not. I had to wait for Michelle from AWOP to return home from Ethiopia. She placed some phone calls and supposedly they were going to be delivered on 9/19. I am still trying to figure out if that really happened. I know that they weren’t delivered to one possible person. Hope is trying to check with other staff members to see if they got delivered elsewhere.
I am beyond frustrated and annoyed at this point. Courts reopen on Wednesday and I was REALLY hoping that our papers would be all ready to go. Please pray with us that our papers would get to the right place ASAP!
