Waiting is the name of the adoption game and that is exactly what we are doing around here. We are currently waiting for a court date to be assigned to us. Last week several Hope families got a date of November 17th. So we know we’ll be sometime after that date.
The court date is when W-boy and B-girl will “officially” become ours…if we pass. Sometimes something comes up and you don’t pass the first time, but we’ll cross that bridge if we come to it. When we do pass we can FINALLY post pictures and video up here for all of you to see. I can’t wait!
Approximately four weeks after you pass court you have your Embassy date with the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa. That is what we have to be there for. Typically families arrive sometime during the weekend, pick up your kids, have the embassy appt on Wed and then leave for home around Friday or so – about a 7 day trip. We are actually hoping to go for a little bit longer so that we can visit with Hope for the Hopeless.
We’re not sure what happens around Christmas time. We know the Embassy is closed for a couple of days but we don’t know what that means for their appts. Not much use speculating on all of that at this point.
For now it looks like the kids won’t be home before Christmas but we could be picking them up over Christmas or right after. Somehow I think Noah and Natalie wouldn’t mind celebrating Christmas a little early before we left 🙂
