Where did I go?

01.05.2012 by juliegumm@yahoo.com //

I kind of dropped off the face of the planet, didn’t I?

Wasn’t really my intent but life was CRAZY. (It’s always crazy, but this was an extra level of crazy.)

November 30th marked my last day of working with World Orphans. The month leading up to that was emotionally stressful, so I took the month of December to kind of “recover”.

Of course my version of “recovery” involves crafting projects, painting the baseboards, reorganizing closets and cupboards, and de-cluttering whatever space takes my attention that day. That and reading about a dozen books (all fiction escape). It was wonderful.

And then of course their was family in town, the holidays, etc.

But I feel more centered and am really excited about what God might have in store for 2012.

The Power of a Dollar

01.04.2012 by juliegumm@yahoo.com //

Beth Cupitt started Give1 Save1 as a platform to help fundraise for families adopting from Africa.

It’s really pretty simple – and that is the beauty of the idea.

Every Monday a different adoptive family is featured on Give1Save1.com and readers are asked to give $1 – just $1 and then spread the word virally.

Since August the site has helped 16 families and at least 1 charity, raising nearly $22,000.

The power of a dollar is pretty amazing!

If you’re interested in becoming a featured family, here’s the info to contact Beth.

Taking advantage of Christmas as an Amazon affiliate

12.01.2011 by juliegumm@yahoo.com //

When I got my mail the day before Thanksgiving and saw that I had a Christmas card I thought 2 things:

“Already, REALLY people?”

and

“Oh no, I better get going on our Christmas cards!”

But I loved what I saw when I opened it up and I will totally forgive Stacy Kennedy for sending her cards BEFORE Thanksgiving because it is pure brillance. Several months ago Stacy set up an Amazon Affiliates link and has faithfully been spreading the word. Every time someone enters Amazon via their link and buys something, a percentage goes to the Kennedy’s and they put it directly in their adoption fund.

And of course it’s the biggest shopping season of the year. So tucked inside their card was their letter sharing the news of their adoption and then 4 of these cute little business cards (see front and back below). One for me, 3 to give away.

I’ve been doing all my Amazon shopping through the Kennedy link for months now. I just put a bookmark on my bookmark bar where I can always see it – it’s pretty much become habit.

The Kennedy’s set up the link in August and so far have made $597. Not bad huh?
